Individual Calzones

Last night I was craving pizza.  That yearning for pizza eventually morphed into a daydream about calzones.  The only thing that stood in my way of a hearty and delicious meal were the hours of dough preparation.  Although I considered kneading out a fresh batch, Jack and the girls wanted dinner now so I found a quick substitute that actually turned out quite well.  In less than twenty minutes, we had steaming individual calzones on our plates.

Here's What You'll Need:

1 can crescent rolls
Pizza sauce
Mozzarella cheese
Toppings (think mini pepperonis, frozen pre-cooked meatballs, spinach, onion, olives, sausage, etc)

Preheat the oven to 350F.  Roll out canned crescent rolls on a baking sheet and separate them into pairs (two slices should be kept together to form a rectangle).  Spread pizza sauce in center.
Place toppings (shhh...don't tell my family I stuck some spinach in to get a few more veggies on the plate!).

Add cheese and slice an equal number of slits to the center on either side of the dough.  "Braid" them together, trying to avoid large gaps (the dough will expand as it cooks to seal in any small gaps that may remain).  Pinch the ends together.

Bake for twelve to fifteen minutes or until heated through and dough is a golden brown.
