Free Floor!

Voila! The new nursery floor!
The nursery was one of the first rooms that I completed, and by completed I mean 90% done. The walls were painted, the window replacing a door to nowhere was put in and the trim was put up but, the floor, well, it was still the horrible, cheap, linoleum that I'd spilled paint all over because I knew that it would eventually be covered by carpet.
An important aspect of working on a fixer upper is the ability to be flexible. There's only one thing that will make me rip out a beautiful trim job that I'd already finished and that was someone giving us over 2,000 square feet of flooring. For free!

(Well, mostly. We did pay them our debt of gratitude in eggs...)
Getting started. Yesssss!
Though the floor was easy to install, there was the added challenge of trying to make sure I didn't run out of flooring since pieces had already been cut and working around the mess of the floor that the previous owners had left. Let's just say they forgot to use a level when they worked on the house...
So...close...to finishing...
Since we had family coming to visit, I decided to start so I'd have a very definite deadline. We worked a few hours every morning and scrambled the day of our family arrivin to get the trim put back up, caulked and painted. And the result?
I love the new floor, especially since it was a FREE floor!
Couldn't be happier!
